This event is part of EU Green Week 2025, which focuses this year on the theme of the circular economy. EU Green Week is the European Commission’s annual opportunity to raise awareness, promote, and debate environmental policies across Europe. As a proud partner event, we’ll explore how circular principles like reusing, repairing, and making informed choices apply directly to the world of fashion. This event will be hosted by our member YNEO.

Part 1: Understanding & Uncovering Greenwashing

What is greenwashing – and how does it influence our buying decisions? In the first part of this event, we’ll take a critical look at the fashion industry and its „green“ claims.

Topics include:

• What is Greenwashing? Definition & Overview
• The “7 Sins of Greenwashing” – Common industry tricks
• Real-life examples from well-known brands
• New EU Laws Against Greenwashing:
  • EmpCo and the Green Claims Directive
  • What will companies face?
  • Benefits for consumers: more transparency and trust

Interactive learning (depending on time and group size):

• Spot the Greenwashing: Analyze marketing claims and ads together

Practical tips for responsible shopping:

• How to spot credible sustainability claims
• Which sustainability labels can really be trusted?
• Materials: Eco-friendly and durable fabrics
• What to look for in quality, fit, and finish

Alternatives to buying new:

• Second-hand, renting, upcycling, repair
• Where and how to find truly sustainable brands and platforms

If there is any time left before part 2 will start we would be happy to have some short sharing-sessions in which you can share your personal successes or struggles when trying to shop sustainably

Part 2: Business Clothing Swap – Sustainable Style at Work

After the informative session, we’re making it practical! Refresh your wardrobe – without buying new.

Here’s how it works:

• Bring 4–5 well-maintained business or business-casual clothing items
• Browse our racks and find new favorite pieces
• Connect with other participants and get inspired for a more sustainable office look

✔ 4–5 pieces per person
✔ Focus: Business and business-casual attire – stylish, functional, and professional
